Define positive impact on change

One of my clients has officially launched their original web series project, Kode Orange, on Kickstarter today! You’re the key in making this dream a reality for them, and for their fans. This is so much more than a campaign to support a television series project, it’s an opportunity to evoke a desire for change among the film and entertainment industry. It’s no secret that incremental improvements have been mistaken for big time progress with Hollywood’s consistent inability to include actors of color in lead roles. That’s why we have decided to encourage change with an exciting new drama web series, following the lives of two male police officers who join the special unit to end drug and terrorist crimes in the city of Los Angeles.

This Kickstarter campaign is to raise money in order to make additional, high quality production episodes beyond the original pilot that has already been completed.  The goal is to release one episode per week each season. The pilot that currently exists will be broken out in to four separate episodes.  Our hope is to eventually pitch this project to Hulu or Netflix as an exclusive web series, so the more traction we have will give us more clout in that process!

By pledging today, you’re demonstrating that you wish to be a component in a change towards a societal issue that is long overdue.  Check us out here:

Thanks everyone! You’re the best. Image

Musician Goes Actor -or- Actor Goes Musician

I recently was having a conversation with a good friend of mine who has acted in many popular television sitcoms, soap operas, and films.  Many of his fans are, however, unaware that he is an extremely talented musician. There is a strange stigma in Hollywood that embraces musicians, like Rihanna, transition to the “big screen,” but people get a sour attitude when on-screen actors try to break into the music circuit. I totally think we as a society shouldn’t put such a negative stigma against actors wanting to dive into music.

My list of Singers Turned Actors are below, but I’m curious to see how many Actors Turned Singers you all can think of….

-Mariah Carey, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Will Smith, Aaliyah, Jennifer Hudson, Frank Sinatra, Justin Timberlake, Queen Latifah, Mandy Moore, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg (aka Snoop Lion), Beyonce, Rihanna, Beyonce, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Eminem, P Diddy…among many others

So go ahead and comment away – What actors broke into the music world successfully?
